Cancer Education & Outreach Services Laboratory (CaEd Services) is an outcome of the Cancer Education and Research Project (CaEd Project). Since its official inception in September 2003, the CaEd Project, a collaborative initiative between Cornell and UPM, has been successful in providing for the educational needs of Malaysian living with and affected by and caring for breast cancer in a way that takes into account the Malaysian multiethnic population.
The CaEd Project has been primarily funded through research and development funds from Cornell University [through the Department of Education (DoE) and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALs)]. As a major collaborative partner, UPM has provided valuable in-kind assistance by housing the project at IPSAS (formally known as PEKKA) and organizing several of its activities.
Funding for the project’s activities since its inception in 2003 through 2006 (include research, publications, national summit, and extension programs) came from grants awarded by external sources. The potential funding for future activities beyond sems positive as a number of grants are in the negotiation stage.
